Lets start with Bauxite. Bauxite is the main raw material we need to make this versatile metal. The bauxite rock is gathered from a layer of the equator a good few meters into the ground. It is then shipped off to be cleaned and grounded in the bauxite grinder. Through this process and cleanse we get an extraction called Alumina or aluminum oxide. To fully separate this oxide from the rock it is put through a hot mixture made up of caustic soda and lime, it is heated and filtered and dried to make it a white powder, this is where the alumina at its purest.
Next stop is the processing metal change. This is where the alumina is converted into aluminium, the exciting part! The first stage in the changing process is the refinement process. The alumina is mixed with two other vital components, Electricity and carbon. The electricity is spurted through both negative and positive cathode/anode, both made from carbon, whilst this is happening the anode reacts with the oxygen from the alumina creating CO2 and THIS is what give us our LIQUID aluminium.
But, how do we get our products? Now, depending on what the aluminium is going to be used for, it is either casted in extrusion ingots, sheet ingots or foundry alloy. This next part is more creative, as this is the part where you make your aluminium stuff! Its called the Extrusion stage. Here are some of our aluminum ingots:
The extrusion stage is probably one of the labour intensive parts of this metal making. It offers so many options for you to flexibly createa product. Once your aluminium ingot is released and cooled, it is pressed into this piece of machinery in a shaped tool, it is formally known as a die.
If you know aluminium as well as we do, you will know how pliable it is which is one of the reasons it is such a useful metal. It can be rolled in sheets as long as 60cm and as thin as 0.006mm and still be wearable. Aluminium strips are usually made to make things like foil.
The penultimate part of the processis to create the primary foundry alloys which are then casted into all different shapes and sizes. It is re-melted and made into wheel rims, car parts and cylinder heads.
Finally, the last stage is for everyone: recycling. Aluminium is one of the best metal materials that can easily be recycled and not make an impact on quantity. It can be recycled into the same thing, or another complete new and different product which is quite fascinating.

Aluminium Alloys Bar
Aluminum alloys are a mixture of aluminum and a variety of other metals. Different metals, when added to the base aluminum impart enhanced properties to the aluminum, such as enhanced corrosion resistance, better formability, greater strength, and/or other beneficial properties, in a wide range of permutations and combinations.
The alloying elements include silicone, manganese, magnesium, copper, zinc, nickel chromium, and titanium. The 1000 Series of alloys:
The 1000 series of alloys are generally considered "soft alloys". They are probably most commonly used in electrical and chemical applications, but can be found in tube, pipe, extrusions, rod, wire, foil, and other applications.
They contain a minimum of 99% aluminum, and usually only a trace of any other metals, with one of the few exceptions being 1100, which contains 0.12% copper. Otherwise, the main impurities are iron and silicone.
Because of the high aluminum content, they have low mechanical properties, giving them good workability. They have very good corrosion resistance and both thermal and electrical conductivity.
